The Township of North Glengarry owns three major recreational facilities, three community halls, and several parks. These facilities host a variety of events and activities throughout the seasons. As this web site is developed we will include more detailed information.
Introductions to the major facilities:
Glengarry Sports Palace: The Glengarry Sports Palace is located in Alexandria at 170 MacDonald Blvd. It was open to the public in 1976. This building houses the local arena (the Billy Gebbie Arena), which seats up to 500 people. This is the home of the Alexandria Glens. There are many other services offered by the Glengarry Sports Palace including special activity events, trade shows, auctions, exhibitions as well as summer time indoor ball hockey and other sports. The Alexandria Public Library is also located here.

It was opened in 1977 and it too contains a rink with seating for 300. This is also the location of the community centre where many dances are held for local school kids, as well as other activities. It contains an air conditioned banquet hall and serves for trade shows, exhibitions and the like. Several sports programs are available as well.
Alexandria Island Park & Sandfield Centre: This is Alexandria's Community Centre which also houses the North Glengarry Youth Centre. It was opened in 2002 next to the Mill Pond where the public can enjoy the beach, boat launch, fishing, and ice skating in the winter months. This park contains three play structures, a water park, gazebos, picnic tables, a bandstand, 4 soccer fields, tennis and basket ball courts.
